Have you ever noticed how almost every brand of washing product is a combination of Water and Sodium Laureth Sulphate or Ammonium Laureth Sulphate? These ingredients will make 90% of the total of most washing products. Colours, preservatives and "label image" ingredients will make up the other 10% of the product.
Laureth Sulphates are the cheapest and easiest way to manufacture a washing product. They are the standard base formula for almost all brands and can be easily be modified in colour or consistency as fads and brand names change. They can be warehoused for long periods and mixed cold.
Although fine for some people, Laureth Sulphates are not the best cleansers for sensitive or dry skin as they remove too much oil and are more irritating than other cleansers. Alternatives can be hard to find as they are much more difficult to make commercially.
Our "We got Mail" page has many emails from people who have been surprised that the difference to their skin a totally different washing formula can make.
MooGoo Milk Wash uses a glucose based cleanser called "Capric Glucoside". This was originally developed for baby wipes and has the same skin irritation score as water.
We added genuine ingredients (not gimmicks) to prevent drying of the skin. Milk Protein (Casein) is similar to the skin's own protein and helps maintain elasticity. The natural ester Glycerol Oleate prevents skin water loss and leaves the skin smoother.
Our body wash does not create big bubbles like a synthetic detergent. It washes gently and without drying of the skin. Because it is so gentle it is also a no tears formulation in children's eyes.
