Note: Some anti-ageing ingredients we chose not to use because of potential for skin reactions, or increased sensitivity to sun exposure. These include Idebedone, Alpha Hydroxy Acid and other acidic anti-ageing ingredients.  Formulation of Double Cream

Caution: The following may be "too much information" for many people. We will not be offended if you scroll straight to the bottom.

This is a Squalene based moisturizer with anti-ageing actives. The anti-ageing actives are:

Squalane:  This part of the cream mimics the serum that young skin produces. Squalene is found in human serum at a level of 12 per cent and is essential in maintaining skin flexibility. After our early twenties, Squalene production diminishes rapidly, leading to a drying of the skin and loss of flexibility contributing to wrinkles. The major oil in this cream is Squalene which helps maintain the oil balance to that of young skin.

Stabilized Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate). Vitamin C is an amazing anti-oxidant, but most types of Vitamin C used in skin care are not effective. Normal Vitamin C will oxidize (combines with oxygen) before it has a chance to mop up the free radicals in the skin. This cream uses Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate which is the latest version of Vitamin C and is stable enough sink into the skin to be effective. Free radicals  (accelerated by sun exposure) can lead to sun damage. This is why moping up free radicals can help prevent further sun damage.

Gamma and Alpha-Tocopherol (Specialized fractions of Vitamin E).  Vitamin E has many isomers (alpha, beta, delta and gamma tocopherol). Most skin care products only use Alpha Tocopherol. The latest research seems to indicate that it is Gamma Tocopherol that is the most effective in preventing free radical damage in human skin. We use a 50/50 mix of Alpha and Gamma Tocopherol.

Milk Protein  Provides a 20% increase in skin elasticity over a placebo cream without.

Allantoin (our favorite ingredient in all creams). Allantoin is know as a healing, moisturizing, soothing and anti-irritating, keratolytic and non-toxic agent useful in dermatological, cosmetic and veterinary preparation. Allantoin is a valuable cell-proliferating healing agent which stimulates healthy tissue formation.

MSM MSM is Methylsulfonylmethane.   MSM is a food that comes from the ocean, is water soluble, and is not a drug, or a food additive.The sulfur normally provided to the body by MSM is required for healthy collagen and keratin which are essential for healthy hair, skin and nails.  MSM also has proven antioxidant benefits which can disrupt or alter damaging chain reactions of lipid peroxidation in the cell membranes.

Apricot Kernel Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Grapeseed Oil. Assisting the Squalane in keeping the skin hydrated and elastic.
