Cleopatra was the first to use milk for cleansing with her legendary milk baths. Our milk soap is the most gentle and natural way to wash possible. Similar to Cleopatra's milk baths, without the inconvenience of slaves stomping through the house with jugs of milk at bath time |
Fresh Milk Soap
MooGoo first made fresh milk soap after being told by a dermatologist that frequent showers were drying our skin and causing dry skin dermatitis or eczema. Our lifestyle meant that we had to shower often if we wished to keep our friends, so we made a better soap based on 24% fresh milk, butters and oils. Our skin became much healthier and supple. Others noticed the difference and we began making it for friends. Now it has become a full time job.
The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, a natural material that dissolves the glue that holds dead skin cells together. The milk helps wash away the dead skin cells, yet leaves the skin moist and supple. This may be why it seems to be benficial for Keratosis Pilaris.
The Fresh Milk does not go "off" because the saponified oils prevent bacteria. In fact, traditional soap is the best anti-bacterial wash there is.

From the 'We Got Mail" page:
I am really happy with the products I've bought and love the milk soap that you included. I can't believe how much better both the kids and my skin is (and that's after only one week!). My husband is now using it too for his dry itchy skin. I am so happy after years of trying every lotion and potion known to man to find something that actually works.. Nicola, ACT. |
Why is Fresh Milk (Not Powdered) Soap so hard to find?
Because it is time-consuming and expensive. Milk has to be kept cool to prevent curdling. This means we must use very small soap molds and add ingredients slowly as heat is generated in traditional soap making. Most soap makers use powdered milk to make "Goat's Milk soap"
The results of taking the time to make fresh milk soap are worth it, as many of our regular customers can attest. Sometimes we do run out of stock of the soap as it cannot be rushed. It takes at least 2 months to cure. But the wait is worthwhile for healthy and clean skin.
Keeping moisture in the skin is important in preventing the skin from creasing during facial expressions which leads to lines and skin looking aged before its time. Youthful looking skin, without dryness or irritation, is priceless.
Our bars of soap are much bigger than most (130g) and for most people last a long time as we cure each bar for at least 2 months.

Goats Milk Soap
|
|
 |
Many commercial brands of goat's milk soap use powdered milk. The best ones use fresh goats milk. Goats milk soap is especially suited to those people with very sensitive skin. It is the mildest way to remove old oil and grease from the skin, and replaces these oils with pure nut oils and proteins.
The milk cleans, the nut oils and butters keep the skin supple and young looking. It smells good enough to eat.
Note: These are big bars of Milk Soap (130g) so they last longer. Some people with smaller hands or children may find it easier if the bar is cut into two pieces.

Buttermilk Soap
|
|
 |
In days gone by, nothing went to waste in the standard homestead, and this included the liquid leftover after churning butter. You might be surprised to learn there is no butter, per se, in buttermilk, and it is lower in fat than sweet milk. It was usually flecked with tiny spots of sweet, creamy butter that didn't quite make it to the top to be skimmed. Nowadays, most commercial buttermilk is made by adding a lactic acid bacteria culture to pasteurized sweet whole milk or, more commonly skim milk
Buttermilk soap is especially good for people that have had dry skin, or develop dry skin from the sun or air-conditioning. Skin should never be dried out as it becomes more prone to lines and wrinkles.
Note: These are big bars of Milk Soap (130g) so they last longer. Some people with smaller hands or children may find it easier if the bar is cut into two pieces.

Milk, Oatmeal and Honey Soap.
|
|
 |
Start the day washing with a natural soap that smells wholesome and and leaves your skin feeling soft and fresh.
The finely ground oatmeal in this soap helps exfoliate the skin. Honey is a natural antiseptic and has been shown to assist skin repair. The soap uses a buttermilk base to give it the creamy texture of all our soaps. It just so happens that it smells like a healthy breakfast.
It is best for those with Keratosis Pilaris or for anyone needing a good scrub without drying the skin.
