Natural Hair Products For Sensitive Skin and Scalps

..and Anti-Dandruff through Scalp Repair, not Pyrithione Zinc!

Because we don't like pesticide actives in our shampoo.

 

Our hair care products use a special formula not found in any other brand. It took over a year of testing it on our guinea pigs (that is our friends and family!)  before we got it to work as we wanted. We wanted to make products safe enough to drink (in moderation!), use natural ingredients proven to improve the condition of the hair, and lastly take care of the scalp without the traditional chemicals. Some of our customers said they "felt like pulling their hair out" after washing their hair with other shampoos. This shampoo is for them. We used the safe alternatives to the traditional scalp care shampoos. We DON'T  use the pesticide active "Pyrithione Zinc"  used in most scalp care shampoos.  If you know anyone using shampoo with the ingredient Pyrithione Zinc, suggest they do some research on its toxicity. The US Environmental Protection Agency is even reviewing its risk noting the following: "Areas of concern include potential dermal and inhalation exposure risks during residential application of antifoulant boat paints  which contain zinc pyrithione as an in-can preservative. Another concern involves potential occupational dermal and inhalation exposure risks to those who regularly work with the chemical." For the full report click here. Full report here. Why is this ingredient used in almost all "Scalp Care" Shampoos? Do we really want this on our skin?  We know people are skeptical when so many products promise so much. But we encourage our customers to give it a try. Those that have tried it are already writing back to us to tell us how much better their hair and scalp feels.

Environmentally Friendly. Our main cleanser belongs to the first group of foaming ingredients to be given a favorable Class 1 rating in the German Water Hazard Classification. Shampoo Ingredients

Pure Water : Water makes up more than half of a shampoo. An accurate label will have this listed as the first ingredient.

Capric Glucoside : Our main foaming ingredient derived from sugar and a fatty alcohol. A recently available product originally developed for baby wipes. Less toxic then salt or aspirin and extremely gentle on the scalp and hair. Very good for the environment due to its easy biodegradability. Its safety in the body and low irritancy compared to petroleum based detergents is a good reason not to pay $4.00 for a shampoo.

Sodium Lauramphoacetate : Derived from coconut oil and alcohol, this makes the overall  blend even more gentle. In fact, the company that discovered this combination has applied for a patent as it has made an extremely mild cleanser even milder.

Cocomidopropyl Betaine: Another coconut derived cleanser. We use it in a small amount as it assists the cleansing properties.

Milk Protein : Silkens the hair naturally - see research below into this ingredient.

Glycerol Oleate: A Natural Ester that adds shine to the hair. See research below.

Natural Milk Shampoo Because this shampoo is so gentle and safe for the body, it is suitable for children as well as adults. Best of all, our shampoo is especially formulated to improve the condition of the scalp. For those that suffer from itchy scalps and dandruff, it works by fixing the scalp.  Read our 'We Got Mail" page to see what a difference it has made to people who were being driven mad with scalp problems from commercial shampoo. We have tested it on many guinea pigs (our friends), with all hair types. All have reported excellent results. The cleansers work well enough for oily hair, while the proteins and esters help nourish dry hair. There is nothing better for treated hair than a very gentle cleanser combined with genuine repair ingredients.   Please note: To keep the ingredients as natural as possible, we do not use "dispersants" in our shampoo. This means that it is best to give the shampoo a very quick shake before use to make sure all ingredients are mixed. For those with longer oliy hair: Our shampoo uses mild cleansers that are gentle on the scalp as well as the hair. Although they are quite effective cleansers, natural cleansers do struggle to cope with lots of hair oil. If you have oily hair you may need to wash the hair twice or use a petroleum based cleanser once a week (such as a Sodium Laureth Sulphate based shampoo).

Natural Hair Conditioning Cream 500ml We have formulated our conditioner much like a moisturiser using natural ingredients. The base of the cream is derived from Colza Oil (Canola Oil). To this we add various ingredients for hair and scalp health. These include Milk Protein,  Jojoba Oil, Aloe Vera and Allantoin (Comfrey Root Active) and Piroctone Olamine and Guarsilk. Sounds easy? It has taken us a year to get it right. We hope you enjoy. An excellent way to have really shiny hair is to rinse the hair with some apple cider vinegar (or normal vinegar but it smells) and water once a week. Then shampoo as normal.
